If you have been around here before, in my little corner of the inter-webs, you know that I share a playlist each month. I do that for myself really. Music is like smell, it evokes memories of time and place, people and events. My playlists are like a musical journal to me. Only with this one I actually go back and listen to the old ones quite regularly.

I don't have music on all the time but I like to have a soundtrack to my yoga practice, or when I do the dishes, or when I drive. You know, the kind of stuff that doesn't require thinking (I'm not a multitasker, I can't think AND listen to music at the same time, just doesn't work).

This month's playlist is quite heavy on the Boyhood soundtrack tunes. You know, the movie that everyone is talking about. I had no idea it even existed as it had been, quite uncharacteristically, months since I last went to a cinema being too preoccupied with other things to keep an eye on the latest cinematographic offerings. Then I went to see Boyhood on recommendation without so much as knowing the basic premise of it.

I love watching movies with no preconceptions in my head, seeing it truly for the first time. Had I read or heard anything about it beforehands, I'd probably had formed an idea of what the movie should have been like. This way the story just unfolded in front of me and I was able to be surprised and captivated and seduced by the whole experience. My favourite way of watching movies: with an open mind. Needless to say, I loved Boyhood and I loved the soundtrack. The songs were perfect, each adding a sense of time and place to the scene. I picked my favourites, then added a few other ones. Enjoy!
