With Valentine's day fast approaching, it's virtually impossible to avoid the L word. Whenever and however you choose to express your love, I have a few ideas for you...!
KEEP IT SIMPLE
LOVE HEART COOKIES
100g unsalted butter
150g plain flour
60g icing sugar
1tsp vanilla sugar (or a few drops of vanilla extract)
1 egg yolk
1tbsp dark rum
♥ Mix all ingredients together with your hands and then knead until you get a smooth dough. Leave it to rest in the fridge for an hour or so. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees.
♥ Take the dough out of the fridge and roll out flat on a floured surface until it is about 3mm thick. Use a cookie cutter to cut out love hearts (or, if you're feeling creative, use a blunt knife to cut out your own hearts or any kind of other shapes!). Use a cocktail stick (or something similar) to inscribe your message.
♥ Place the hearts on a lined baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes (or until the cookies start turning golden). Remove from the oven and leave to cool on a cooling rack. Et voila!
