WHY YOGA // MICHELLE WILLIAMS

Yoga has endless benefits. You don't really need fancy equipment and you can do it anywhere, anytime. Yoga is democratic, accessible and all that... But still, sometimes those who need it the most find yoga time ever so elusive.

Think about new mums. And dads.

A new baby is a big adjustment. The sleep deprivation, the exhaustion. The guilt if you go do something for yourself leaving your child with a baby sitter. Etc etc.

I am not a mother. But I have worked with babies and I have enough mothers around me to see that being a mum is one of the toughest (and most rewarding, and often most underpreciated) 'jobs' in the world.

Inspired by her single motherhood, Michelle Williams co-founded this great initiative in Boston,

Yoga for single moms

. The project offers free yoga classes to single mums and a separate yoga play time for their kids. This way, single mothers can enjoy the benefits of yoga free of guilt, as well as financial and childcare worries.

YOGA TIME

Every parent needs some quality me-time. Single or not, rich or poor, anything between. And this is where

Yoga Time

comes in, a great new pop-up in North London for mums, dads and offspring. Yoga time is part yoga studio, part creche, part community centre. And what you get is:

♥

Yoga for parents

♥

Therapeutic playtime for kids

♥

Tea and cake for everyone

Drop the little one(s) in a creche for some therapeutic play time, enjoy your yoga session -- YOU TIME -- in peace, then get reunited with your offspring over a cuppa.

 All whilst meeting other

parents and kids in your community

-- everybody wins!

I am really excited to be part of this unique and worthy venture. Classes start on the 17th June in Newington Green and I'll be teaching the Thursday morning sessions. Click here for the
